Job Location: Brooklyn 11220/ Manhattan 10013

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interviews patients, properly records and updates the necessary medical information of the patients in EMR system, including allergy history, family history, present health conditions, eye surgery history, reasons for visit, medication etc.
  • May perform some basic and routine ocular measurements and/or ophthalmic diagnostic tests (pre/post) in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with established guidelines, and / or as per in patient's Assessment Plan or Physician's instructions.
  • Answers basic patient questions and provides other information without medical advice; refers more complex questions to more experienced staff.
  • Explains test/examination procedures to patients and provides reassurance and support as required.
  • Escorts patient to the procedure room for further examination by physician.
  • Helps maintaining the cleanliness of the procedure/treatment area and consultation room.
  • May assist in some administrative tasks, e.g., preparing School Screening Form, DMV form etc.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Formal education and/or experience in Optometry or Ophthalmology is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in a medical practice is preferred
  • Basic knowledge in medical terminology is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in EMR systems, MDLand is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Customer service orientation
  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese is required, Mandarin is a plus
