Job Overview:
The Clinical Compliance and Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing the compliance and risk management functions within a physician group practice. This role ensures that clinical operations adhere to regulatory standards and that potential risks related to patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance are effectively managed. The position works closely with clinical leadership, physicians, and staff to implement and monitor compliance programs, develop risk mitigation strategies, ensure that all practices meet all applicable healthcare regulations, and promote a culture of compliance and patient safety.
Essential Functions:
- Compliance Management:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal and state regulations governing clinical practice, including those related to patient care and clinical operations. Stay updated on new healthcare regulations and implement necessary changes.
- Policy Development: Create, update, and enforce clinical compliance policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements.
- Accreditation Support: Collaborate with regulatory bodies and accreditation organizations to maintain compliance with accreditation standards that apply to physician group practices and ensure timely reporting of required information to regulatory agencies.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance-related training programs to staff at all levels on clinical regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Risk Management:
- Patient Safety and Quality: Lead and support initiatives to improve patient safety and clinical quality at Rendr, identifying and assessing areas of risk and developing corrective action plans.
- Incident Reporting: Oversee incident reporting processes related to clinical care, ensuring timely investigation, documentation, and resolution of patient safety issues, adverse events and near-misses.
- Risk Assessments: Conduct regular clinical risk assessments, focusing on areas such as patient care protocols, patient safety, infection control, medical necessity and clinical documentation.
- Data Evaluation: Analyze data on patient outcomes, clinical performance, and adverse events to identify trends and potential risk areas.
- Risk Monitoring: Develop and maintain incident reporting systems/registers to track and monitor identified risks
- Quality Assurance:
- Quality Standards Adherence: Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure adherence to quality standards set by accrediting bodies (e.g., Joint Commission, NCQA)
- Quality Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to clinical processes and outcomes
- Quality Improvement: Coordinate with various departments to implement quality improvement projects
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits of clinical processes and patient care protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between clinical staff, providers, and external agencies during compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports to executive leadership on compliance and risk management initiatives, including identified risks and mitigation strategies.
- Program Development and Implementation: Work with leadership and various departments to develop and implement long-term compliance, risk management, and quality assurance programs tailored to the practice’s unique needs.
- Lead and participate in relevant committees and task forces.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, or related roles
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CHC, CPHRM) preferred
- Clinical experience required
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards and clinical best practices (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, CMS guidelines)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Analytical skills for data review and reporting.

- Ability to identify risks, develop action plans, and lead initiatives to improve clinical safety and quality.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with strong project management skills.
