Job Overview:

Rendr is looking for a Senior Coding Manager to manage and oversee daily operations, including but not limited to overseeing the entire coding department, data collection, analysis, and reporting to meet the department’s goals. The coding manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the Coding team. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers training curricula to improve understanding and application of physician coding practices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HCC and CPT coding rules, regulations, and methodology
  • Helps to identify trends, rising issues, and root causes of issues/challenges and recommends solutions or process improvements.
  • Serves as a clinical coding subject matter expert to analyze and evaluate documentation issues from the medical and clinical staff.
  • Oversee prospective HCC reviews.  CRC Coding team review of patient HCC code history, prescription drugs, hospital records, lab results, and physician notes to identify coding opportunities before patient encounters 
  • Provides assistance in creating, documenting, and maintaining medical coding related items,
  • Participate in appropriate work groups to contribute to content workflows and inform on data/analytics that support optimal and compliant coding.
  • Develops and maintains review processes to ensure complete documentation, coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborates with outside coding vendors meeting regularly to review any issues, provide educational support.
  • Experience managing and reviewing offshore vendor coding.
  • Use data to refine Risk Adjustment strategy: Assess our Risk Adjustment program by reviewing year-over-year changes in risk score, risk condition persistence and the impact of supplemental data files. Modify and refine Risk Adjustment strategy based on your findings.
  • Assist team members in developing competence in coding knowledge and skills by training, managing, and mentoring.
  • Directly supervise the work/activities of staff of the Internal coding department
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Collaborates with Senior Medical Coding Educator to effectively respond to provider inquiries and improve documentation accuracy and coding workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) required
  • Additional Certification strongly preferred (CPMA, CEMC, Approved Instructor)
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • A Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including supervision of staff, and thorough knowledge of medical coding. Primary Care and Specialties and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge
  • Prior experience in working with Providers and Medical Staff required
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated
  • Ability to break down difficult coding concepts and make them easy to understand
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms
  • Strong analytical, instructional, and interpersonal skills required
