Physician - Ophthalmologist (Supervisory)

Job Overview:

We are seeking experienced Supervising Ophthalmologist to provide strict oversight and leadership to a team of Optometrists across our clinics in Sunset Park / Bensonhurst / Chinatown. We are flexible – open to Full Time or Part Time candidates (part time is at least 2 days a week). In this pivotal role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality eye care services, compliance with medical standards, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Your primary focus will be on supervising Optometrist performance, implementing best practices, and fostering a collaborative environment to support patient outcomes. The role involves travel between locations (Manhattan Chinatown and Brooklyn).

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise Optometrists by reviewing charts, diagnostics, and treatment plans for accuracy and safety.
  • Opportunity to see patients and perform LPI/Yag Cap/SLT in the office. This is a non-surgical position (no opportunity for cataract surgery).
  • Evaluate performance, provide feedback, coaching, and training on new technologies and protocols.
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols for exams, screenings, and referrals.
  • Lead team meetings, resolve disputes, and promote collaboration across sites.
  • Provide consultative guidance on complex cases like glaucoma or pediatric issues.
  • Generate reports on performance, efficiency, and outcomes for leadership. 

Requirements: 

  • MD or DO from accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine.
  • Board eligibility or certification in Ophthalmology.
  • Current and unrestricted New York State license and DEA number.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-residency experience in Ophthalmology, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role overseeing Optometrists or similar healthcare professionals; familiarity with urban clinic operations preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is a plus, not required.
